Mazak Adds Depth and Experience to Southwest Direct Sales Team 

Brian Jones recently joined Mazak Corporation’s Southwest Regional Headquarters as account manager – North Texas for the company’s direct sales team. In this new post, Jones, who has more than 20 years of experience in the machine tool industry, will further enhance Mazak’s sales and support presence in North Texas.

Jones’ primary duties include working closely with Mazak staff and outside contacts to effectively support customers and achieve company goals, continuously implementing improvement strategies that benefit both the company and its customers, as well as staying current on market trends and new products to identify growth opportunities for customers. 

Prior to joining Mazak, Jones was a regional sales manager for a machine tool company in Plano, Texas, where he managed a business unit that served over 1,000 companies. In this role, he received the top salesman award in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011. 

“Brian has strong track record selling machine tools to the highly specialized medical, aerospace and energy sectors, which all have a strong presence in North Texas,” said Dana Scott, general manager of Mazak Southwest. “We’re very excited to have him on our team as he will not only play a key role in helping us increase our sales in this territory, but also provide high levels of support to our customers.”

Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in business marketing and communications from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.

Mazak’s Southwest Regional Headquarters and Technology Center is located on 4.5 acres of land in the Greenspoint District of Houston. While the 30,000-square-foot facility has a special energy industry focus, its dedicated staff works closely with manufacturers from all industry segments to generate the most innovative part-processing ideas for increasing productivity, efficiency and equipment utilization. The Technology Center offers easy access to the latest Mazak machine tool technology, especially larger model machines, for testing new product solutions; process and application engineering; training facilities and educational seminars; and collaboration opportunities with Mazak’s cutting tool, workholding and automation partners to develop new manufacturing solutions.

In terms of new technology for the energy industry, Mazak customers, particularly in the Southwest region, should inquire about the new QUICK TURN NEXUS (QTN) 550 MY that was introduced at IMTS 2014. The Multi-Tasking turning center features a “big bore” integrated spindle motor with a 14.7″ through hole together with the capacity to accommodate parts up to 16.5″ in diameter and 160″ long.
