Walter Company Launches ‘Air Force AF-Weld’ New, Reusable Spray Can System
Tim Houghton, President and COO of Walter Surface Technologies, world-wide, announces creation of this revolutionary system to reduce the costs of welding operations while simultaneously minimizing their environmental impact.
This new, globally patented refillable sprayer system is a MONEY SAVING WAY of dispensing the popular Walter made Spatter-Block product for aiding welders’ clean-up. It reduces environmental impact by using compressed air as a PROPELLANT. Previously, the use of aerosol cans made it impossible to completely empty the sprayer containers, resulting in an estimated wastage of 10 -15% per bottle plus the cost of hauling away the mountains of empties. With AF-Weld, no useful liquid is discarded and the empty bottle is simply refilled over and over.
It is shipped in a 10 Litre plastic bag in a 10 L. recyclable cardboard box. Contents are poured as needed into the totally reusable, and refillable canister as mentioned above. Each 10 L bag is equal to 20 0.5L bottles so the system also significantly reduces costs of storage, handling, and disposal.
Empirical tests demonstrate 10 L of liquid actually requires 36 aerosol cans of .5 L.
Evidentally, each aerosol cannister contains a volume of propellant that becomes an additional part of the purchase cost.
Also, imagine the thousands (millions!) of out-moded aerosol cans that will no longer find permanent resting places in landfills or other parts of our environment.
And, the Air Force filling station is convenient, safe, and simple to use so refilling is easy. Just stand the empty sprayer on one of the two receptor plots on the mini-ramp at front. Fill with liquid and compressed air all in one step.
The new AF-Weld emulsion provides a “hassle-free” welding experience with its anti-spatter formula that inhibits corrosion, allows for immediate painting, and helps prevent weld porosity. This aids welders in making “clean” welds and increases both the quality and productivity of their work.
Air Force is a core member of the Walter Company and its growing Bio-Circle Division which focuses on Environmental Solutions. Privately held, with its U.S. headquarters in Windsor, Connecticut, Walter has served the metal fabricating and related industries in the Americas and Europe for over fifty years. The company’s quest to improve sustainable development continues in associated university and commercial research laboratories across the USA, Canada, and Europe.
